Hoppy Easter Everyone!

Yes, I made an Easter Bunny out of white carnations. Isn't he cute!?

This is actually from last year, but I have a bunch of white carnations left from several Church arrangements I did this morning....I forgot to use the carnations (we hardly ever have carnations, so I forgot we even had them!)...so I may attempt a 2008 Bunny tomorrow morning. It might be a nice thing to donate to a community organization.

Our sweet innocent 2007 Bunny came to our local watering hole with me last Easter....it was also a friend's Birthday. Check out what kind of trouble he got into that day!

Flower Bar not only makes the Easter Bunny, we've made Spider Man, Dora the Explorer, and many other creative works of art using flowers. Call us at 404-525-2244 to place your special order-- or visit our website at http://www.flowerbar.org/.

Close Your Eyes And Click Your Heels Three Times...

On Friday evening a tornado hit Downtown Atlanta and Cabbage Town, just one mile away from our shop...we were VERY lucky that we did not get hit. I am also counting my blessings, as I was at the Georgia World Congress Center doing a stage demo for the Atlanta Home Show, just hours before the storm hit-- resulting in heavy damage to the building.

On Saturday we had a wedding we were very much looking forward to working on. Kyla Tilton of Atlanta Party Starters was getting married at the Vinings Club. Kyla is one of the most put-together ladies I know, she keeps her cool under any circumstance, and each of her events are no less than a spectacular success! When I arrived at the shop at 6:30 am to begin her flowers, we had no power....and it was pitch black out. This put me a bit behind, but my Jenny came to the rescue to help me catch up on all the boutonnieres and corsages- Thank you Jenny!

When we got to the venue, I was expecting the Bride to be a bit unraveled, as there was another tornado warning for that day. But of course, she was just as calm, cool and collected as always, and she had her team working hard to make sure all was as it should be. I felt for her because she specifically rented the venue and organized the theme of her wedding specifically around the gorgeous skyline view of Atlanta from the Vinings Club. But all that was covered in weather now.

She greeted me with a smile on her face and said the flowers looked great. I told her the sky would clear up and she'd get her view. Sure enough, it did, and at the end of the evening when I returned to clean up, Kyla looked radiant and happy. I'm so glad everything worked out for the lovely Bride and Groom!
And Kyla- now you have quite a story to tell to all your future clients. You pulled off your own beautiful wedding despite the first ever Tornado to hit downtown Atlanta. Congratulations!

For an otherwise crappy few days on the personal side of things (car break-in, etc), the creative juices sure were flowing.

Doing them even made me feel better....hope it worked on the recipients too!
Here's a sampling of the last favorite few....

Women In The City- Atlanta INtown Newspaper

All the Ladies of Irwin Street Market were featured on the cover of Atlanta INtown magazine in their March issue!!

Twice a year they do a "Women In The City" issue which features business women in metro Atlanta. They came to interview the various vendors at the Market where Flower Bar shares a roof, and decided to put us on the cover! We were completely surprised.

Along with the honors, we were invited to Executive Editor Susan Soper's home for a luncheon celebrating all the Women In the City who were featured. It was a lovely affair, and Flower Bar is grateful to have been included.

Valentine's Day Reports

As a florist, I started to worry about a week after Valentine's Day because we had not heard back from any of our customers. "I guess no news is good news," I thought. At least we didn't get any complaints that our flowers died in two days, or that someone didn't think they were pretty....

But wait-- NOW we are hearing back. Sixteen Days later. My customers are reporting back that their flowers are just now expiring. And the compliments and thank yous are abundant.

Phew, and YAY!
